Saucy Spring Sock Swap

SWAP RULES

Sign up at http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/13669

Here’s how this swap will work:

sock.jpg Everyone will work off of the same pattern, Saucy Socks, that you can download at http://www.cidermoon.com/cm0127.html; I can also send this to you if you prefer.

sock.jpg You will have 1 partner and will make 1 pair of Saucy Socks that you will send to your partner.

sock.jpg Partners will be assigned by 04/12/2008.

sock.jpg Socks should be “tailored” to your partner’s preferences (i.e., color, size, cuff length, etc.). As people sign up they will receive an email with the list of questions to fill out which will then be placed on the blog that has been setup for this swap.

sock.jpg I am extending the time to complete the socks and get them in the mail because it is an intricate pattern (though NOT DIFFICULT) and I don’t want anyone feeling rushed; the idea is to enjoy the journey as well as the destination.  NOTE: This pattern is not for beginners and you must have experience knitting cables to participate in this swap.

sock.jpgAs always fiber quality is very important, so no cheap, acrylic, low-quality yarns; you should expect to pay at least $20 for enough good quality yarn to complete 1 pair. Please think LYS quality yarns. If you don’t have a LYS there is etsy.com as well as a ton of incredible online stores that provide amazing service. Natural fibers or natural blends only please.

gift.jpgIN ADDITION, because the pattern we are using is free, and most everyone enjoys getting new things, include a little something for your partner along with your completed socks that reminds you of spring! The most creative “token of spring” will win a prize. More on that once the swap is in full swing!

VERY IMPORTANT – In an effort to reduce the risk of flaking, and wanting this to be a very positive experience for everyone, I am unfortunately going to have to ban people with a lower than 4.50 rating… unless you have a good reason why your rating is low. You can send an email to saucysockswap@gmail.com with your information.

baby.gifALL newbies to Swap-bot must drop me a line before signing up to obtain permission and must have a complete profile filled out on Swap-bot.

EXTRA INFO:

sock.jpg This pattern is beautiful if you use a solid yarn or one that shades just a bit rather than a variegated one. A good example of subtle shading would be Dream In Color’s Smooshy line.

sock.jpg This swap is currently open only to US swappers. If this round is a success, I will set up an International one. Or if there is a large interest in this being International, I will consider changing from US only to International as well.

Hi Barb, I’ll be emailing this to you as well. You should have received an invitation to create a login name and password to wordpress, once you create that login name/password you can then sign in and post away. :-) I’m going to resend the invitation to you now.

I’m sorry I didn’t see this sooner! I’ve been just crazy – busy!
